Blog Monetization: How Do You Make Money from Your Blog?

Posted on March 29th, 2012

Dear Rich,

I have a full time job, but Im very passionate about staying healthy, eating right, and exercising, all on a limited budget.

I want to start a blog so I can share my story, provide tips and advice, and help others.

I also want to make some money doing it!

Can I have a blog without a website? If so, how can I monetize my blog?

Monetizing in Machais

Dear Monetizing,

You can definitely have a blog without a traditional website. However, these days the line between blog and website is so blurry as to be inconsequential. Your blog will probably have several static pages, such as an About page and a Contact page at a minimum.

One way you can make money from your blog is by selling ads. Unless you get a huge following youll probably never be able to quit your day job this way, but it will offer you passive streams of income. Y

GE engine faulted for crash that killed nine

Posted on March 26th, 2012

PORTLAND, ORE. An Oregon jury ruled Tuesday a problem with an engine was responsible for the 2008 crash of a helicopter that killed nine firefighters during a wildfire in Northern California.

The jury in Portland reached its verdict after a pilot who survived and the widow of one who was killed sued General Electric for $177 million.

The plaintiffs argued the company knew the engines it made for the Sikorsky S-61N helicopter had a design flaw making them unsafe.

GE countered that the helicopter crashed because it was carrying too much weight when it took off after picking up a firefighting crew on the Iron 44 wildfire on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest near Weaverville, Calif.

?They?re heroes,? said plaintiff?s attorney Greg Anderson of the pilots, William Coultas and Roark Schwanenberg. ?They saved as many people as they could.

Cashflow: A Healthy Indicator

Posted on March 25th, 2012

It can be very stressful and time-consuming for business owners to stay in the loop when it comes to their finances.

Unfortunately, it is also an essential task you must complete if you wish to avoid business failure. Even a business that appears to be successful on the surface can become a victim of business failure if they fail to keep proper financial records.

The most important part of keeping your business financially healthy is tight financial control from the moment you start. Leaving the paperwork to build up can lead to mistakes being made. You may forget to invoice a customer or fail to notice some costs. The best way of keeping on top of bookkeeping is to use cashflow planning software, as this allows you to quickly input data and then file your paperwork away before it starts to build up.

If you havent already done so, try moving your business banking online.

Govt considers extending National Loan Guarantee scheme

Posted on March 25th, 2012

â??The government has announced that there is scope for the National Loan Guarantee to be extended beyond the initial £20 billion if demand dictates.

Chancellor George Osborne said in testimony to parliament’s Treasury Committee that if small businesses come out in force for the loans, the scheme could be expanded, Reuters reported.

Mr Osborne also announced that the coalition is considering the launch of a market whereby small businesses loans can be bundled together and sold on to investors.

“Starting to securitise the market for small business lending is something we’re considering,” the Chancellor is quoted by the news provider as saying.

“Restarting it is not easy and we’re not aware of any country that has successfully done this on a large scale since the crash. I

Jacobs wants to discuss Visit Orlando chief’s compensation package

Posted on March 18th, 2012

The head of Orlando’s visitors bureau has signed a new, three-year contract that boosts his earning potential this year to as much as $474,000, in a deal could become a flash point at Tuesday’s Orange County Commission meeting.

Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs isn’t commenting yet on the size of Visit Orlando President Gary Sain’s salary package, but she said Friday she wants the public-private organization, which gets most of its operating funds from the county each year, to provide more details about the compensation.

“I think they need to come in and explain it,” Jacobs said. “I’m going to reserve final judgment until I hear all of the facts.”

Sain, who has led Visit Orlando through a recession and a record recovery in tourism, is to receive $338,800 in base pay under the new contract, a raise of 3 percent from his previous salary. Read full article…

5 Blog Post Ideas That Will Never Go Out of Style

Posted on March 17th, 2012

I love blogging, I really do. It’s an opportunity to connect with readers, gain an international audience around my cause, and most importantly- to share my wisdom.

There is only one problem; it’s not every day I have an epiphany-level insight to write up in the form of a blog post. And sometimes, there just isn’t all that much time to research and write up a post that would leave Mark Twain jealous.

This is my personal checklist for coming up with great blog post ideas at the drop of a hat.

Controversy

Nothing stirs up responses like a good controversy. Blog about something that people are heated up about and they will respond.  They will comment. And if the

Never Stop Trying To Hit The High Notes

Posted on March 15th, 2012

Prior to Whitney Houstons home going service yesterday, I shared shared 5 things she taught me about life. After the service, I watched several videos of her more recent performances, and this photo is a still from one of them.

I chose it because its indicative of her fighting spirit. It showed that

Whitney never stopped trying to hit the high notes.

If you look at the videos from the past few years, you see a woman struggling to find her place in a life that had exhausted her.
