Washington Policy Organization Celebrates Young Entrepreneur

The Potomac Institute for Policy Studies announced this week that it is giving Musk one of its 2010 Navigator Awards. The policy group grants the award to members of industry, academia or government who make advances in the fields of science or engineering. Musk certainly qualifies: He helped establish PayPal, the online payment service, and went on to found space-travel company SpaceX and electric-vehicle company Tesla Motors.
Musk also has his own charitable organization, called the Musk Foundation; it supports education and research in the fields of space exploration, pediatric care and renewable power.
Throughout his career, Musk hasn’t been afraid to take risks. He reportedly spent his entire fortune getting Tesla Motors off the ground – and some accounts say he was crashing on friends’ couches in the months before Tesla went public. Now that the company has had its initial public offering, Musk will probably jump headlong into a new venture.
His boundless energy can serve as an inspiration to young entrepreneurs everywhere.
