Grains post modest gains

CHICAGO, June 29 (UPI) — Grains closed modestly higher in Chicago Wednesday as the dollar index fell 0.52 percent.
Corn was off 5 to up 15, soybeans were up 2 1/2 to up 4, wheat was up 3/4 to up 2 1/2 and oats were up 5 1/2 to up 8.
Traders speculated that China may soon be building up corn stockpiles, which are currently running low. An early rally in wheat was tempered by reports that India may soon put 1 million metric tons of wheat on the market. Soybeans traded up and down Wednesday ahead of critical stocks and acreage reports.

Corn: Jly 6.98 up 15, Sep 6.78 up 8, Dec 6.50 1/2 off 2 1/2, Mar 6.62 3/4 off 5.
Soybeans: Jly 13.34 1/4 up 3 1/2, Aug 13.27 1/2 up 3, Sep 13.23 1/2 up 2 1/2, Nov 13.23 up 4.
Wheat: Jly 6.41 1/4 up 1, Sep 6.74 1/4 up 2 1/2, Dec 7.17 1/2 up 2 1/2, Mar 7.55 1/2 up 3/4.
Oats: Jly 3.45 up 5 1/2, Sep 3.52 1/2 up 8, Dec 3.58 1/2 up 6 1/2, Mar 3.69 up 6.
